THE TIGER: Part of our heritage is disappearing...
.
By StudioOne

The tiger is an endangered species. In 1900 there were over 100,000 tigers in Asia by 9 species. Today there are less than 7,000 tigers left, mainly in India, China, Indonesia and Siberia, and 3 of the species is completely eradicated.

There are 6 living tiger species left:
* Amurtiger (Panthera tigris altaica)
* Sydkinesisk tiger (Panthera tigris amoyensis)
* Indokinesisk tiger (Panthera tigris corbetti)
* Sumatratiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae)
* Bengalsk tiger (Panthera tigris tigris)
* Malaysisk tiger (Panthera tigris jacksoni)

These 3 tiger species are already extinct:
* Java-tiger (Panthera tigris sondaica)
* Bali-tiger (Panthera tigris balica)
* Kaspisk tiger (Panthera tigris virgata)

If the number of eradication continues at the same pace as in the past 100 years, the tiger will be extinct within 8 years!

Thankfully, there are many who fight for their survival, and has put some of the tigers in protected habitats. But it costs money to keep the tiger parks running.

StudioOne has decided to support the tiger parks, by donating 5% of our total annual profit to the WWF World Wildlife Fund, so this beautiful cat does not disappear totally.

The Tiger is the largest and strongest of all living cats. The male in the Amur tiger, also known as the Siberian tiger can weigh up to 300 kg. Most tigers live in forests, (where their camouflage comes useful), and in grassy areas.
Unlike other cats wild tigers are crazy with water. They are good swimmers and can cross rivers and swim from one island to another. Tiger takes bath to cool down on hot days and to clean the coat.
